Two-step Curriculum

Here I segment the process of learning to dance two-step into byte-sized manageable chunks. Let's call them weekly chunks, since a move is worth doing for a week (especially if you go dancing twice a week). You can repeat a specific week as many times as necessary.

Week 1 - Fundamental Curriculum

See the Two-step beginner fundamental curriculum. It includes:

  • The basic
  • Inside turn
  • outside turn
  • couples turn
  • whip
  • weave

Having mastered these ^, you would actually be a strong intermediate dancer. Emphasis on "mastered."

Week 2 - Basket weave & the tunnel

The tunnel is surprisingly easy, and basket weave is surprisingly useful.

Week 3 - Advanced arm figures

Let's have some fun!

Week 4 - simple dips
  • Basic dip from whip - on right side, and on left side
  • Hip dip
  • arm drag
  • monkey bar
Week 5 - simple dips, continued
Week 6 - ronde & fold sweep
Week 7 - telespin
Week 8 - streamline patterns, whips and weaves
Week 9 - hip checks & rolls, ducks
Week 10 - throws
Week 11
